An in-depth look at a key analytical chemistry project, showcasing methodology, instrumentation, and results achieved through rigorous quality control processes.
HPLC Method Validation & Polymer Additive Analysis
Led comprehensive HPLC method validation for a new line of specialized polymer additives at the Magnolia Plant facility. This project ensured that all raw intermediate chemical batches met stringent purity thresholds before large-scale production blending.
Project Overview
The project involved developing and validating analytical testing procedures for three new polymer additive formulations. Working with Agilent HPLC and GC-MS equipment, I established baseline data compliance protocols, executed target standard dilution curves, and authored multi-step testing procedures that translated complex laboratory chemistry into functional step-by-step assembly guides for facility floor technicians.
Key Highlights
- Validated HPLC methods for 3 new polymer additive product lines
- Achieved 99.7% baseline data compliance across all tested batches
- Authored 12 multi-step analytical SOPs for production floor use
- Diagnosed and resolved 4 out-of-specification instrumentation drift errors
- Full ISO 17025 validation documentation completed
Technical Implementation
Daily calibration of Agilent HPLC systems with column replacement schedules, preparation of target standard dilution curves, and systematic documentation of all validation adjustments. Out-of-specification analytical reports were thoroughly investigated, with instrumentation drift errors diagnosed and corrective actions documented to satisfy ISO requirements.
Terrica's meticulous approach to method validation and her ability to translate complex analytical procedures into clear technician-friendly documentation has been invaluable to our production quality assurance.
This project exemplifies the intersection of rigorous analytical chemistry and practical manufacturing quality control — ensuring that every batch meets the highest purity standards before reaching the production floor.
